Why this site exists

Every summer, thousands of travellers are turned away at airport check-in because their passport doesn't meet the destination's validity rules. Most never knew the "6-month rule" existed. Passport 6 Month Rule was built to fix that — a free, fast checker plus plain-English guides so you find out before you book, not at the gate.

Who runs it

The site is independently owned and run by David Mansion, founder of Mansion Web Company. David personally researches, writes and updates the country pages and guides. There is no large content team — and no sponsored content masquerading as advice.

David has worked on practical consumer websites for more than a decade and built Passport 6 Month Rule after seeing how often official passport advice is scattered across airline pages, embassy notes and government travel warnings. The aim is simple: turn those rules into a fast check and a plain-English explanation before someone pays for a flight.

How we research the rules

Every country's passport validity rule on this site is checked against the destination government's own border or immigration site, the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office travel advice, the US State Department's country information, and IATA Timatic where available. Where airlines apply their own stricter rule, we note it.

We separate the legal entry rule from the practical airline rule whenever they differ. That matters because travellers are most often stopped at airline check-in, not at the destination border. Pages are updated when a rule changes, when a reader sends a verified correction, or when a high-traffic guide is due for review.

Corrections and updates

If a reader spots a mistake, we ask for the page URL and an official source. Verified corrections are made quickly and the page's updated date is changed where the correction affects travel advice. We would rather publish a narrower answer with a clear source than overstate a rule we cannot verify.

How we make money

We don't charge readers for the checker or guides. The site is currently focused on content quality and AdSense approval. Once advertising is enabled, costs may be covered by:

• Display advertising via Google AdSense.
• A small commission on a handful of travel-related affiliate links (visa services, travel insurance, flight search). We only link to services we'd happily use ourselves, and the commission never changes what we recommend.
