Frequently asked questions

Do I need 6 months on my passport for Thailand?
Yes. Thai immigration strictly enforces a 6-month passport validity rule from your date of entry. This is non-negotiable — airlines will deny boarding and immigration will refuse entry without it.
What happens if my passport has less than 6 months for Thailand?
You will not be allowed to board your flight. Even if you somehow do, Thai immigration will refuse you entry and you'll be put on the next flight home at your own cost.
Do I need a visa for Thailand?
UK, US, EU, Australian, NZ and most Western passport holders get a 60-day visa exemption on arrival (as of 2024). Your passport must still meet the 6-month rule.
How long can I stay in Thailand on a tourist visa?
Visa exemption allows 60 days, extendable by 30 days at an immigration office. Longer stays require a proper tourist visa applied for before travel.
Can I enter Thailand by land with less passport validity?
No. The 6-month rule applies at all entry points — airports, land borders, and seaports.
